Evolution Digital today announces the deployment of its eBOX IP Hybrid Set-Top Box, powered by TiVo, Inc.®, to Mediacom Communications customers as its leading next-generation set-top box. Mediacom delivers cable, Internet and phone services to nearly 1.4 million customers primarily located in the Midwest and Southeast regions of the U.S.
Evolution Digital’s eBOX will include Evolution Digital-enabled IP Pay-Per-View (PPV) services, extending to Mediacom customers a wide range of on-demand content for viewing.
“We are extremely excited to announce that Mediacom customers around the country will enjoy our unparalleled eBOX hybrid solution,” said Marc Cohen, executive vice president of sales at Evolution Digital. “Evolution Digital’s eBOX provides a unique immersive viewing experience for consumers, as subscribers have access to traditional cable and OTT services through one, easy-to-use interface.”
“Mediacom continues to provide the best and most innovative products and services to our customers,” said JR Walden, senior vice president and chief technology officer at Mediacom. “We are excited to bring Evolution Digital’s cost-effective eBOX to our customers and provide the best content available on an enriched and streamlined platform. We have made the eBOX our primary next-generation non-DVR set-top box for households throughout our systems.”
Mediacom customers can now also have an enhanced HD offering through an integrated QAM and IP video offering. By delivering QAM live linear television, combined with OTT streaming apps and IP VOD content on one platform, eBOX enables a holistic viewing platform with universal search, personal recommendations and browse capabilities across platforms.
Mediacom joins the expanding roster of nationwide cable operators deploying eBOX, which include GCI, RCN, Wave Broadband, WOW! and multiple member operators in the National Cable Television Cooperative.
Evolution Digital’s eBOX supports the world-renowned TiVo interface for a seamless user experience. All content is available on one device, so viewers do not have to switch HDMI inputs, boxes or remotes.
