Smith moves to newly created role of chief strategy officer.
Evolution Digital said it has made two key promotions, naming vice president of engineering Panneer Ramalingam its new chief technology officer, while current CTO Brent Smith moves to the newly created role of chief strategy officer of the IP video company.
In his new role Ramalingam is responsible for leading the engineering, development and support teams across the company. He is the founder of i-Velozity, which was acquired by Evolution Digital in 2015 and later became Evolution Digital’s eVUE-TV® IP Video Platform.
Smith co-founded Evolution Digital in 2008 and has spearheaded its future product strategy. As chief strategy officer, he will continue to provide direction, as well as establish key client and partner advancements, working closely with the sales, marketing, product and engineering groups across the organization.
“We look forward to driving our continued growth as we best situate ourselves as cable operators’ leading next-generation IP video solutions provider,” said co-founder and CEO Chris Egan in a statement. “I am excited for Brent and Panneer to lead our innovation and better serve the needs of providers in this rapidly-evolving industry. Today’s announcement allows us to improve upon our operational excellence, as well as pivot in taking a dominant role with our customers as they move to IP video delivery.”
Based in Centennial, Colo., Evolution Digital provides integrated IP hybrid devices and IP video solutions for the global cable industry. Its eVUE-TV Ip Video Platform has been deployed by more than 25 cable operators across the country.
