The Donohue Report | October 13, 2016
Five months after cable overbuilder WideOpenWest said it would deploy a hybrid IP video set-top powered by a TiVo user interface, the next-gen device appeared in an FCC document obtained by The Donohue Report.
Centennial, Colo.-based set-top manufacturer Evolution Digital, located just 10 miles from WOW’w Englewood headquarters, is known for producing low-cost hybrid QAM/IP video set-tops and digital tuner adapters to several major MSOs, including Comcast and Cox Communications.
A recent FCC test report does not name any Evolution Digital customers. But WOW, which described the box in July as “a great next generation solution for IP distribution,” will likely be one of the first pay TV distributors to deploy the box.
