Evolution Digital penned a certified guide renewal agreement with TiVo to deploy eGUIDE, which is a newly designed interactive program guide (IPG). Evolution Digital reports that eGUIDE, powered by TiVo Metadata, will feature rich graphics and a navigation scheme designed similarly to TiVo’s current i-Guide. The initial version of eGUIDE reportedly includes access to Evolution Digital’s eVUE-TV IP video platform. eGUIDE can also support targeted, interactive advertising capabilities to enable higher ad revenue, according to Evolution Digital.
eGUIDE is available on Evolution Digital’s IP Hybrid eBOX, which the company says can be configured to support all-IP video including live linear channels, IP video-on-demand, network DVR, and catch-up TV. eGUIDE also reportedly features a 16:9 HD format, rich graphics as well as navigational features similar to iGuide. eGUIDE is enabled by TiVo’s enhanced metadata services, which is said to help subscribers find their favorite TV shows and movies and discover new content.
“Evolution Digital joined forces with TiVo to further our mission of offering low-cost solutions for cable operators seeking to transition to IP video distribution,” Brent Smith, president and CTO at Evolution Digital, comments. “With eGUIDE, operators can easily upgrade customers with legacy set-top boxes and begin offering advanced IP video features, like Video on Demand, while minimizing user confusion by providing a familiar navigation scheme and remote control. It is a win-win for operators and for consumers.”
Michael Hawkey, SVP and GM at TiVo, says that Evolution Digital’s eGUIDE complements TiVo’s lineup of hybrid and full IPTV solutions, which can be customized with advanced features, like support for over-the-top services and other entertainment discovery needs.
