WOW! Internet, Cable and Phone is the first broadband operator to offer Evolution Digital’s eBOX IP hybrid set-top box, powered by TiVo. eBOX is being deployed for WOW!’s SW!VEL service, which offers live TV with OTT services for residential customers.
Evolution Digital and WOW! announced the deal to deploy the new hybrid HD STB using TiVo software last December. The box integrates traditional linear channels with OTT video solutions and offers universal search across cable and IP video content.
“By delivering eBOX, powered by TiVo, WOW! customers can combine linear video content, available in QAM and IP, as well as the best OTT services, all on one platform for seamless navigation,” Brent Smith, president and CTO at Evolution Digital says.
The box can reportedly be configured to support an all-IP platform, including live linear, VOD and, when operators are ready, network DVR on one platform, with TiVo’s features including universal search, browse and personalized recommendations. Apps from TiVo’s growing slate of OTT video offerings will be included on the eBOX platform.
