After making Evolution Digital’s TiVo-powered hybrid eBox set-top the centerpiece of its new “Swivel” video platform, Wide Open West (WOW) has also signed on to the vendor’s IP-based VOD platform, eVue-TV.

With the integration, Swivel users will have access to what Evolution says is “thousands of hours” of IP-delivered on-demand video.

“Now, with eVUE-TV, our customers can easily find their favorite content to ‘binge watch’ from start to finish, without having to switch inputs and streaming providers to access that content,” said Cash Hagen, chief technology officer at WOW, in a statement.

Evolution said its eVue-TV catalog includes new release movies, leading cable network programs and shows from premium networks.

Last month, Evolution announced that its IP/QAM eBox set-tops are being deployed in a new WOW service targeted to light pay-TV users and broadband-only homes. The inexpensive HD set-tops deliver both linear and online video, without a DVR or CableCard.

The set-tops will use security typically deployed on universal digital transport adapters and will operate as a standalone HD set-top, a client to a TiVo DVR, or as a client to future cloud-based video services.

Englewood, Colo.-based WOW will be able to deliver online programming from Netflix, YouTube and other streaming platforms to its nearly 800,000 customers spread across the Midwest.
