CENTENNIAL, Colo. — Evolution Digital today announces that it has shipped 12 million digital set-top boxes to cable operators around the world, a landmark achievement for the rapidly growing IP Video Solutions provider. These 12 million digital devices consist of Evolution Digital’s wide product offerings since the company’s inception in 2008, including its SD DTA, HD uDTA and eBOX™ IP Hybrid STB.
Customers that have deployed digital devices from Evolution Digital include some of the most notable cable operators in the world such as Comcast, Cox, Mediacom, Televisa/Izzi Telecom, Cable & Wireless, WOW!, Buckeye Broadband, Midcontinent Communcations, Atlantic Broadband, Blue Ridge Communications, Metrocast, Wave Broadband and the NCTC, among others.
“We’re thrilled to see that 12 million of our set-top boxes have been shipped to customers, as it demonstrates strong demand for our innovative and low-cost solutions,” said Chris Egan, CEO. “Building upon our success on the hardware side, we are now shifting our focus to deploying integrated software-based solutions like eVUE-TV, our IP video platform for delivering a complete end-to-end IP video solution. As a disruptor in the cable industry, we will continue to deliver cost effective, integrated solutions that meet the needs of the Tier 2 marketplace around the world.”
Evolution Digital continues to be an innovator in the industry and was the first company to deploy non-CableCARD security. In addition to its newly-deployed eBOX, which integrates traditional cable channels with the leading OTT services, Evolution Digital is also developing its proprietary interactive guide, eGUIDE, powered by Rovi’s Fan TV platform, along with its eVUE-TV platform. eVUE-TV, which is currently launched with WOW! and NCTC, is a fully managed content delivery system that will bring to customers: IP VOD with thousands of hours of content, IP linear television delivery and network DVR, all on one platform.
“The reputation and relationships that we have secured as a result of our tremendous set-top box business have put Evolution Digital in a trusted position to continue to help cable operators retain and grow cable subscribership in a big way,” said Egan. “Now, we can look forward to expanding our software-based solutions, to offer operators and viewers, alike, an unparalleled television viewing experience. I’m very excited about our new direction.”
